Cary A. Des Roches

Biography

Practicing law since 1989, Cary brings a wealth of experience over a mixed and varied range of topics. He began his legal career handling personal injury defense and commercial litigation matters. Since then, his career has blossomed into multiple roles. 

In addition to handling litigation matters, Cary has served as general counsel to Boland Marine & Industrial and its affiliated companies since 1990. The long-term experience of representing Boland Marine’s interests includes a vast array of maritime, commercial, insurance, employment and personal injury law issues throughout the years.

In 2005, Cary began representing the interests of debris removal contractors performing large-scale, post-disaster recovery operations under federal and local government contracts. This experience included the daily handling of contract administration on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ post-Hurricane Katrina recovery operations in the New Orleans area. He continued his handling of contract administration for other prime contractors on disaster recovery operations in Houston, Texas following Hurricane Harvey in 2008.

In 2010, Cary reprised his role handling daily contract administration issues for contractors involved in the BP oil spill recovery project. The issues requiring special attention spanned from negotiating favorable contract terms directly with BP, employment law, personal injury matters, maritime subcontracting problems, vessel navigation concerns, charter agreements, to name a few.

In 2013, Cary began serving as general counsel for DRC Emergency Services, LLC, another large-scale disaster recovery contractor holding contracts across the United States. In his role as general counsel, Cary handles various matters for the company including issues stemming from federal, state and local government rules and regulations, FEMA guidelines and grant programs, public bid laws, prime contracts, subcontracts, surety bonds, along with many others.

Cary earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana Tech University and law degree from Tulane University.
