Biography

Jason A. Cavignac has more than two decades of experience representing clients in trial and appellate courts, frequently in complex, high-stakes disputes involving significant financial exposure. His practice is centered on construction, surety, and business law, where he is known for his strategic approach and practical problem-solving.

Jason represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, and sureties in matters arising under the Louisiana Public Works Act, Louisiana Private Works Act, the federal Miller Act, and the Contract Disputes Act before the United States Court of Federal Claims. He has also handled bid protests under the Louisiana Public Bid Law and assisted contractors with licensing matters before the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors.

In addition to his litigation practice, Jason serves as a trusted advisor to local businesses, counseling clients on entity selection and formation, risk management, contract drafting and negotiation, and business wind-ups. He is also a trained mediator listed on the Louisiana Registry of Civil Mediators, and his mediation experience enhances his ability to evaluate disputes from multiple perspectives and advocate effectively for his clients.

Before entering the legal profession, Jason worked as a broadcast journalist at the ABC affiliate in Lafayette, Louisiana.
